A fascinating video of a speech made by the head of an investing firm about the current economic state of China. The only bad thing is you can’t see his visuals - which I would guess are pretty good.

December 24th, 2009is Unconstitutional. I don’t think this is really a surprise to anyone. I have been reading Amity Schlaes excellent book “The Forgotten Man” and it talks a lot about how the Roosevelt “reforms” in the 30s had to go through extensive judicial review. I expect the same to happen to Health Care and whatever other monstrosities the Dems manage to pass. Unfortunately, I think we all know that although there were programs Roosevelt wanted that were struck down the majority of them never died - and had a tremendously negative affect on the country. I am sure that will also happen today.

Dexter Filkins wrote “The Forever War” about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. I would highly recommend it - not because it is fun or easy to read, but because it is a very well observed and written account of important events in our recent history.

October 7th, 2009Interesting article on economic regions within the US. Interesting to see how specific types of talent will “pool” in certain areas.
Also interesting in light of the idea some have proposed - such as Robert Kaplan in An Empire Wilderness - that the fate of the US is to crystalize around economic regions.

September 15th, 2009An extra fascinating article with compelling visuals regarding the global economy slowdown. I have read a lot of other articles on this problem - but they all had boring stats, etc. The pictures make this article.
